About Marjorie

A warm, grounded place to do the work.

Change begins the moment you realize that the way you're experiencing life right now isn't the only way it can be.

I'm Marjorie Norlund, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Rochester, New York, with more than fourteen years of experience helping people move through addiction, trauma, and difficult transitions. My work is strengths-based and person-centered — I start from what's already right and resilient in you, and we build from there.

I work with teens and adults, and with couples, drawing on approaches like Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, CBT, and motivational interviewing. Whatever brought you here, my hope is that you leave each session feeling a little more understood and a little more capable than when you walked in.

How I can help

Specialized support for what you're carrying

Focused, experienced care across the challenges I see most — and many more we can talk through together.

Addiction & Recovery

Alcohol and substance use, dual diagnosis, and the day-to-day work of building a life in recovery — without judgment.

Childhood Trauma & PTSD

Trauma-focused, gentle work to process the past and loosen its grip on the present so it no longer runs the show.

Mood & Anxiety

Depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and mood shifts — practical tools plus a steady place to be heard.

Relationships & Family

Couples work, codependency, parenting, and family conflict — reconnecting and setting boundaries that hold.

Life Transitions

Divorce, grief, career change, and other crossroads — finding direction and self-esteem when the ground shifts.

Teens & Veterans

Support for adolescents, peer relationships and self-esteem, and care attuned to the experiences of veterans.

My approach

Rooted in strengths — and often, in nature

Evidence-based methods, delivered in a way that actually feels human. We'll find the mix that fits you.

Nature & animal-assisted

Some of the best work happens outside four walls

I love the outdoors, and I've seen how time in nature can settle the nervous system and open people up in ways a clinical room sometimes can't. When it's a good fit, sessions can take a strengths-based, nature-based turn.

You may also meet Quin, my Red Heeler and therapy partner. A calm presence in the room has a way of lowering the stakes and making hard conversations feel a little safer.
